Where are you From?Probably the most common question at Second Life is where you are from. There are two reasons for this. First, some people view Second Life as a way for their real selves to meet other real selves. The avatars then are just something they use to talk to each other. This is a great use of Second Life. You can meet people from many different cultures. I feel like those people deserve to know my country, so I usually tell them. Also, there are time zone compatibility issues. But it's up to you. Past that, you probably want to either lie about your real life or tell people you don't divulge that information. The second reason for being asked this question is that the person doesn't know what else to talk about. Hmmm, especiallly guys. They aren't the best at conversation. Basically, if a guy can start a conversation, even if it is just "How are you " or "hey" or "hi", he is doing good and you should be grateful. Use your female skills to enliven the conversation and make it what you want to be. Are You Female? If you are with a female, the female will almost never try to discover if your real-life person is male or female. But many males will want to know, assuming they are thinking about maybe having sex with you. (Which is of course mostly what males think about.) The reality is, there are no young attractive females visiting Second Life. They have better things to do. So a male has to know you are not what you look like. You have to be old, crippled, obese, or male. Fact of life. Still, he is hoping you are female. Because it all comes back to homophobia. He doesn't want to have sex with a male. So here is the rule for virtual realities. You are a female. You look like a female. Hopefully you act like a female and have female skills. If he truly gay, he would want to have sex with an avatar that looked like a male. He didn't, he is having sex with you and your are female. So he isn't being gay. It is heterosexual sex. Let's do the math. Probably 80-90 percent of the people active on the internet are males. Probably 60-70 percent of the avatars at Second Life are female. Can those males be choosy? Not really. Most of those females want to have sex with other females. So he has to kind of take what he can get. Plus, many of those females have basically a male personality. So you are top of the line for being desirable at Second Life. |
